AIC

The Agricultural Industries Confederation (AIC) is the agrisupply industry’s leading trade association. Formed in October 2003 by a merger of three trade associations, AIC has over 230 Members in the agrisupply trade and represents £8 billion turnover at farmgate. The trade association represents several sectors within the agrisupply industry including: Animal Feed; Crop Protection and Agronomy; Fertilisers; Grain and Oilseed; Seed. AIC works on behalf of its Members by: Lobbying policy makers and stakeholders; Delivering information; Providing Trade Assurance; Offering technical support. AIC promotes the benefits of modern commercial agriculture in the UK and supports collaboration throughout the foodchain.

What forage analysis means for AIC

AIC manage the organisation of the FAA Group, providing a chairperson (John Kelley), technical secretariat (Sarah-Jane Godfrey) and financial services (Lisa Hawes).
Within AIC, the Animal Feed Sector provides policy, guidance, trade assurance schemes and training including the Feed Adviser Register (FAR) and the feed assurance schemes UFAS, FEMAS and TASCC. Forage is an important part of animal feed for ruminant diets. Analysis of forage, together with nutritional expertise from nutritionists and feed advisers allow optimum diets to be devised that combine home-grown forage with bought-in feeds.

Healthy efficient diets will optimise output, whilst minimising the environmental impact and pollution from animal production.

AIC works with the FAA Group to maintain and improve the standards of forage analysis available to the farmer and feed industry.
